Sports: The Frontline For Healing From The Pandemic

As we close out The Center For Healing & Justice Launch week, we will host our final event, a virtual pep rally, to celebrate those at the front line of youth sports while validating their experiences through the last 18 months of one traumatic experience after another. Participants will leave this event with a new sense of purpose, feeling re-energized and like they have a new resource that they can come back to in CHJS. This celebratory event will be centrally used to raise awareness amongst other stakeholders who are unfamiliar with the sport for development and its efficacy, strengths, and opportunities while highlighting the center’s ideal positioning to push the boundaries of youth sports in the name of systemic change.

During this live virtual event, Megan Bartlett will host a discussion with Dr. Bruce Perry and Olympic athlete Ibithaj Muhammad to speak to the unique position sport and the power of play have on getting through the challenges ahead as we attempt to “get back to normal” after the last year of living through the adversity of the pandemic. This celebratory event will be centrally used to raise awareness amongst other stakeholders who are unfamiliar with sport for development and its efficacy, strengths, and opportunities while highlighting Dr. Perry’s groundbreaking work and the Center’s ideal positioning to push the boundaries of youth sports in the name of systemic change.
