Trauma-Informed Mental Health Skill Building Trainings

The Center for Healing and Justice through Sport (CHJS) in partnership with The Community Safety Coordination Center (CSCC) will convene diverse stakeholders in 15 communities in Chicago of focus due to high rates of violence to learn trauma-informed mental health skills that enhance support to community members experiencing distress and trauma in the context of summer months when rates of community violence and compounding stressors increase. 

Participants will learn strategies to:  

  • Build Relationships 
  • Create Trust and Psychological Safety
  • Use Tailored, Evidenced – Based Regulatory Activities
  • Navigate Engagement Approaches 
  • Address the Impact of Implicit Bias
  • Connect to Mental Health Resources

Each in-person training cohort will be conveniently located in the community of focus and will include four (4) 2-hour training sessions held on either Tuesday or Thursday from 11 am to 1 pm. Participants are highly encouraged to attend in person at the community in which they are serving and connected to.

We will also offer a virtual training option that will be available to interested participants across the 15 communities focus who are unable to attend in-person and will include four 1.5-hour training sessions held on Wednesdays.
