California (yes, the whole state), Oct 2024 – California’s changing the game in youth sports, y’all. The star player? Coaches.
Today the California Governor’s Advisory Council on Physical Fitness and Mental Well-Being joined forces with Susan Crown Exchange’s Million Coaches Challenge to launch the 25×25 California Coaches Challenge. The goal: equip 25,000 coaches with positive youth development practices by 2025. Check out the full press release here.
Why the coach spotlight? While we know that sport is inherently healing, the system has been benching a key player. This initiative is California’s way of saying, “Hey Coach! We see you shaping lives. Let’s recognize your power and level up your game.” We’re excited to team up with the Governor’s Advisory Council, American Institutes for Research, and Positive Coaching Alliance, to provide research and train 25,000 coaches. We’re excited to show the nation that in youth development, everyone wins when coaches are at the top of their game, especially with the full support of the system behind them.
